Embroidery Eyebrows | 3D Brows | Shadowy or Textured

I have been doing shadowy eyebrows since 1990 and embroidery/3D Brows since 2006!

No two eyebrows are the same and being able to create beautiful flattering eyebrows for each client is an “ art form”

Trends come and go, but the most important thing is to be able to create eyebrows that will flatter the shape of the face and the style of each and every client, restore balance and symmetry

“EXPERIENCE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE” not all cosmetic tattooists are created equal….

And price is not always a good indication either!

I would stay well away from cheap technicians but I know a couple of very expensive ones who you SHOULD also stay away from, these technicians are very good sales ladies and know how to charge for every single piece of advice they give you ( they sound very knowledgeable ) and every time you see them you have to pay them! So BEWARE, when the time comes to put into practice what they are preaching, the results are very disappointing and extremely expensive and very short lasting!

Reading their website, if I did not know any better, I would think they are EXPERTS!

Also being a “ SELF CROWNED BROW STYLIST DOES NOT MAKE A GOOD TATTOOIST” in spite of what some of them claim!

So what do you look for when looking for someone to give you the eyebrows you would be happy with?

1) EXPERIENCE IN EYEBROW TATTOOING

How long has this person been doing cosmetic tattooing? Do they have any certificates? Did she only do one course many years ago or does she continue her education?

2) SKILL IN DESIGNING DIFFERENT STYLES

She must be able to design multiple styles to flatter every individual client.

Round, oval, triangle, diamond, are face shapes and every one of them should be enhanced by the right shape eyebrow, as I said balance and symmetry should be restored.

This come with experience and having an eye for detail

3) SKILL IN DESIGNING EYEBROWS USING DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES

The technician should be able to perform the most natural Embroidery eyebrows (also called hair strokes, feather strokes ) either with one colour or 2 or 3 colours ( then called 3D eyebrows) shadowing , or creating texture, and this is a lot more difficult than designing brows, one has to master the different techniques, angle of the needle, speed , depth, colour knowledge etc..

4) MACHINES

There is a misconception about machine versus hand tool , safety, look of the strokes etc … deliberately spread by technician who use the hand tool only. As far as embroidery eyebrows are concerned , you can use either a hand tool or an electrical machine, it is up to the choice of the technician, the look of the strokes depends on the skill of the technician, not the tool used as some eyebrow stylists are claiming ( it just shows how little they really know about tattooing!)

Most technicians use an electrical machine to do all the other styles of eyebrows. A lot of the electrical machines are now very quiet. So there is no need to worry about noise or vibrations, a lot of machines (like the ones I use are the latest German designs and manufacture , and are quiet with little vibrations if any )

5) PAIN FACTOR AND ANAESTHETICS

Pain is a very individual thing, what is painful to you is not necessarily painful to me….

A lot of technicians do not use anaesthetics at all to save time and money!

Advice in what to take before the procedure, during or after, is given by me when booking is made, and after the procedure, but rest assured I will make your procedure a very comfortable one. Do you know that some of my clients actually fall asleep while I am tattooing them?

6) KNOWLEDGE OF COLOURS

Pigments used are iron oxides, safe , with very little allergic reactions ( 1 in 250,000.00 people)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT! The colour you see in the bottle is only an indication , the real colour you are going to end up with is:

The colour in the bottle + your skin’s undertone ( warm or cool )= final colour

Everybody has seen dark blue, grey or orange eyebrows, a lot of the times because the technician and most

“ eyebrow stylists” have never done a colour course, all they have done is learnt the technique of tattooing, and they have no idea how the colour will heal. However, sometimes the colour heals a bit orangey or a bit grey, it can be corrected with the touch up appointment, as long as the technician knows how.

7) CORRECTION

It pains me to say that I get daily phone calls about cosmetic tattooing that has been wrongly performed!

Some of it can be corrected, however sometimes it is impossible!

Colour is the easiest thing to correct when you know how (however sometimes because organic colours have been used it can be complicated)

However iron oxides which is preferred by non Asian technicians fade over the years and leave a residue which can be corrected if you have the knowledge to do so.

With organic colours, preferred by Asian technicians because they last longer , they are so strong (like let’s say navy blue eyebrows), you can correct them but you will be doing so on a yearly basis for many years to come. So the cheap price you paid to start with, becomes extremely expensive and painful not only to you physically but to your wallet as well…….

I would be doing 3 to 4 correction treatments per week!!!!!!!

Wrongly shaped tattooing should be removed, not camouflaged with skin colour. This is only a band aid solution and ends up being a bigger problem in the future!

THE COSMETIC TATTOO SHOULD BE PLACED IN THE RIGHT PLACE, IN THE RIGHT COLOUR, WITH THE RIGHT SHAPE THE FIRST TIME IT IS PERFORMED!!!!!!!!

8) SAFETY AND HYGIENE

Every cosmetic tattooist should be licenced by her local council to prove that she is following health regulations in her state!

Disposable needles MUST BE used for each client and MUST BE disposed of in a yellow container called SHARPS, and should be visible on the working bench.

Instruments must be disinfected before and after each client.

The premises should be spotless with running hot and cold water, tiles or linoleum on the floor, gloves must be used for each client and the operator should be spotless also, as far as their appearance, clothes , hair and make-up.

9) WORK REVIEW

A follow up appointment should be scheduled if possible 4 to 8 weeks after the initial procedure to either perform a touch up or perfection review and make sure the client is happy with the work.

The client should visit the clinic 4 weeks after that, so the technician can take a photo of the finished product.

How do people expect us to show us some of our work if clients do not come back when they are happy? At least now, with modern technology if they are not able to come back, they should have a family member take a close up photo and send it to us.
